CMYK

Tree Circles CMYK is a mixed media exploration of perspective, form and authenticity.  This project is a series of  traditional 4x5 photographs made during  a hyper-visual age of virtual realities bent by highly digitized imagery. The images in this project are emphatically non-virtual, but have been designed and executed to have the appearance of having been created digitally. Details in the 40x50 inch prints (Traditional C-prints) reveal the trees in the forest were in fact painted. The images were shot on increasingly rare, no longer available 4x5 Fuji quickload negative film. Conceptually I am interested in how this project allows me to explore perspective and authenticity in a physical, non digital, geographical sense.  I’m using paint on the trees to bring a 2 dimensional form into existence in the forest. It is the photographs of each painted tree scene that complete each individual work.
